It was unclear whether this also applied to the iOS version. From my search I found that version 10.3 for OS X recently made all their artist lessons free. I wasn't able to find a recent comparison of the Garageband versions. On the other hand, a MacBook Pro may be better for general music production use, especially if I wanted to use more serious DAW software like Logic Pro X, Ableton, etc. One thing that I think works better on the iPad Pro was the touch instruments in the latest version of the app, really impressive, can't use them as easily on the MacBook Pro because it doesn't have a touchscreen from what I understand.
Is there a recent list of the differences between the Garageband versions for iOS and OS X? I went into an Apple store today to get a quick demo of Garageband, and was kind of blown away by what could be done with the app (the demo was done on an iPad Pro).
The kind of music I'll be making will be pop/rock with instruments and vocal.
